What it is

SkinVive is Allergan’s microdroplet hyaluronic acid injection — the first FDA-approved product of its kind in the U.S. It’s not a volume filler. It targets cheek skin smoothness and hydration through superficial microdroplets of HA placed in the upper dermis.

The result is quieter than filler. You’re not looking for volume change; you’re looking for a smoother, more hydrated appearance to the cheek surface itself — a quality SkinVive addresses that serums and moisturizers can’t.

  • MechanismMicrodroplet HA delivered to upper dermis for hydration and smoothness
  • Best forCheek smoothness, surface dullness, fine crepeyness
  • Not forVolume restoration (see /dermal-filler/ or /sculptra/ for that)
  • OnsetVisible smoothness at 2-4 weeks

The protocol

A deliberate sequence — not a one-time visit.

01

Consult

Your nurse injector assesses whether SkinVive addresses your actual concern. If you’re looking for volume, we’ll recommend a different product.

02

Treatment

20-30 minutes. Microdroplet injections across the cheek area. Topical numbing typically sufficient.

03

Onset

2-4 weeks for full effect. The product hydrates and smooths gradually, not instantly.

04

Maintenance

Re-treatment at ~6 months keeps the surface quality consistent.

Questions

What patients often ask.

Is SkinVive a filler?+
Technically yes — it’s hyaluronic acid — but it behaves differently from traditional HA filler. Regular filler adds structural volume. SkinVive delivers microdroplets to the upper dermis to improve skin hydration and surface quality. Most patients treat both categories as different products.
Will SkinVive plump my cheeks?+
Not noticeably. It’s not designed for volume change. If that’s your goal, you want traditional dermal filler. SkinVive is for patients whose volume is already where they want it and they want the skin quality itself to improve.
Is it sold as an add-on or standalone?+
Both at MODE. It’s listed at $700 as a 2-syringe add-on to dermal filler appointments. Standalone pricing is confirmed in-clinic.
How long does it last?+
Approximately 6 months. Shorter than traditional filler because the mechanism (surface hydration) is metabolized faster than deep structural placement.
Any downtime?+
Mild redness at injection sites, usually resolves within hours. Small bruising possible. Normal activity same day.
Who injects SkinVive at MODE?+
Marisa Dulin, MSN, FNP-C and Torey Varner, RN.
