What it is

Microneedling — also called collagen-induction therapy — uses a network of fine needles (FDA-cleared SkinPen device) to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. Your body responds by producing new collagen and elastin, improving texture, tone, acne scarring, pore size, and fine lines.

MODE offers standard SkinPen microneedling plus regenerative microneedling paired with Lilium Pure growth factors for amplified skin rejuvenation. Targeted scar and hand treatments available at lower per-area pricing.

Consult

Your esthetician assesses skin thickness, primary concern, and whether standard or regenerative microneedling fits. Discussion of pre-treatment skincare prep.

Numbing

Topical anesthetic applied 30 minutes before treatment for patient comfort.

Treatment

SkinPen passes across the treatment area at calibrated depth. Standard treatment is 30-45 minutes of active passes.

Recovery protocol

Mild redness 24-48 hours (sunburn-like). No makeup for 12 hours. Gentle cleansing only for 72 hours. SPF mandatory.

Series

Most patients complete 3 sessions spaced 4-6 weeks apart. Scar and texture improvements build cumulatively.

What patients often ask.

How is microneedling different from lasers?+

Both stimulate collagen, but through different mechanisms. Microneedling uses mechanical micro-injury (needles); lasers use thermal energy. Microneedling is safer for all skin types (less pigmentation risk) and has shorter downtime. Lasers (Moxi, BBL) address additional concerns like pigmentation and vascular issues.

Does it hurt?+

With topical numbing, most patients feel light pressure or vibration but minimal pain. A small number of patients describe it as a light scratching sensation. Numbing makes a significant difference.

What’s regenerative microneedling?+

Standard microneedling followed by Lilium Pure growth-factor serum pressed into the newly-opened channels. The growth factors penetrate deeper than with intact skin, amplifying collagen response. Same downtime, stronger result.

Will it help my acne scars?+

Yes, for rolling and boxcar scars — microneedling is one of the most effective in-office treatments available. Ice pick scars need additional interventions (punch excision, TCA CROSS). We’ll discuss what your specific scarring pattern responds to.

How many sessions do I need?+

Most protocols: 3 sessions at 4-6 week intervals for primary improvement, then annual maintenance. Severe scarring may need 4-6 sessions.

What about downtime?+

Pink-red flush for 24-48 hours, similar to a sunburn. Most patients return to work the next day. No makeup for 12 hours post-treatment; gentle skincare only for 3 days.
