Kirstyn Prater
Critical-care medical foundation, doctorate-level training, and a root-cause approach to vitality, hormones, and long-term health.
Kirstyn Prater is a Doctorate-prepared Nurse Practitioner (DNP, AGACNP-BC) on the MODE care team, leading the practice’s functional medicine, hormone optimization, and longevity work. She brings a unique blend of advanced clinical expertise and a lifelong passion for health, fitness, and performance to every patient she serves.
Kirstyn earned her first bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, where her love for movement, nutrition, and overall wellness began. A lifelong athlete, she has always believed that the body is designed to thrive when given the right support. After graduating nursing school in 2014, she dedicated her early career to caring for patients in high-acuity settings — working as a Neuro/Trauma and Critical Care Nurse before earning her Doctorate of Nursing Practice in 2018. She has since practiced as a Neuro Critical Care Nurse Practitioner, bringing years of advanced medical experience and evidence-based care to every patient interaction.
Her passion for preventive health deepened after seeing firsthand how many chronic conditions could be improved — or avoided entirely — through proactive, root-cause-focused care. That clinical observation drove her toward advanced training in functional medicine, hormone optimization, and longevity through the Institute for Functional Medicine (with education from Mark Hyman and Jeffrey Bland), WorldLink Medical (under Dr. Neal Rouzier), and Evexias (under Terri DeNui and Johnny Peet).
Kirstyn’s mission at MODE is to help patients feel their best — restoring vitality, optimizing hormones and metabolic health, preventing chronic disease, and supporting long, vibrant lives. She combines a compassionate, personalized approach with deep medical knowledge to help each individual achieve lasting wellness.
Outside of medicine, Kirstyn enjoys travel adventures with her husband Dean, hiking outdoors with her dogs, and cooking new recipes for family and friends.
