When should a bride start Botox and filler before the wedding? Torey's bridal timeline at MODE.

When should a bride start Botox and filler before the wedding? At MODE Aesthetics and Wellness in North Scottsdale, Torey Varner, RN, opens a bride's plan 9 to 12 months out at a complimentary consultation, builds and refines it through the middle months, and places the last Botox, $13 per unit, no closer than 4 weeks to the day.

A bride should start Botox and filler 9 to 12 months before the wedding, not 9 to 12 weeks. That is how long it takes to plan a face as one face, let collagen stimulators and filler settle into something that looks lived in, and leave the last month for nothing but a final Botox and glow.

In May, Torey Varner, RN, our nurse injector and injector trainer, shared four of her recent brides on Instagram, each photographed on her wedding day. None of the photographs is a before and after. They are what the plan is for: a face that reads as rested and natural in the pictures that will be looked at for decades.

“I am so honored that these women trust me with their faces in preparation for their big day. Natural, elegant, beautiful and undetectable.”

Two weeks later she published the timeline behind those faces, her bridal injection guide, and it is the structure of this note. Her one rule above all the others: plan. The earlier the consultation, the more the plan can do.

Why does a bridal injectables plan start 9 to 12 months out?

9 to 12 months before · Consultation and full face assessment

Because the treatments that change a face the most are the slowest. Torey’s guide opens the bridal year with a full face assessment, and that is what an injectables consultation at MODE is: complimentary, 45 to 60 minutes, and it ends with a written plan and a quote we honor, with no pressure to treat the same visit. For a bride the plan is dated backwards from the wedding, so every treatment lands with time to settle and time to be adjusted.

This first window is where the foundation goes in. Sculptra is a collagen stimulator rather than a filler, so what you see in the first week is largely the product itself, with your own collagen building behind it over the months ahead. A full face treatment is usually 2 to 3 vials across 2 to 3 sessions, 4 to 6 weeks apart, with a three month review before anything is added, at $850 per vial. Start that at month 9 and the review falls at month 6, with half the timeline still ahead. The same logic holds for Radiesse, where most patients see continued improvement between 3 and 6 months, and for Lilium Pure Advanced Biologics, which her guide lists for the under eyes at this stage.

It is also where a first round of Botox belongs, so that by the wedding you and your injector have already seen how your forehead, your brows and the corners of your eyes respond to a given dose. And it is where the skin work starts: Moxi laser runs as a series of 3 to 4 sessions 4 weeks apart, microneedling as 3 to 6 sessions 4 to 6 weeks apart, and a medical grade skincare regimen needs months, not weeks, to change skin quality. Lasers and skin treatments at MODE are performed by Heather Cyr, LME, CLT, and Sara Espinoza, LME, CLT.

What happens 6 to 8 months before the wedding?

6 to 8 months before · Build and refine

This is the building phase: refinement dermal filler where the assessment called for it, a second Sculptra or Radiesse session, neck and body work, skin tightening, and the continuing laser or microneedling series. Filler at MODE is planned around your face as a whole, not by the syringe. A full face rebalance might be 3 to 6 syringes across multiple visits, and spreading those visits across the middle of the year is exactly what this phase is for.

Torey makes one point about this window that matters for anyone who has had filler elsewhere: it is still a safe time for major filler adjustments, for dissolving, and for trying a treatment that is new to you. Hyaluronic acid filler can be reversed with hyaluronidase, and if something placed before the engagement is not sitting right, month 6 to 8 is when to say so, not month 2. Marisa’s note on what changes after full correction explains why later visits are smaller than the first ones.

What is the fine tuning phase, 4 to 6 months out?

4 to 6 months before · Fine tuning

By now the foundation is built and the job is to perfect it. Final lip balancing, final filler tweaks, the Botox plan confirmed from the first round, the last Sculptra or Radiesse session, under eye work, and skin boosters. Every filler visit at MODE includes a complimentary follow up with the same injector about six weeks later, once swelling has fully resolved, to assess whether any refinement is needed, so a filler visit at month 5 has its review at month 4 with the rest of the timeline still clear.

What Torey asks brides to avoid here is anything aggressive. No intense laser resurfacing, no treatment that needs weeks of recovery. The point of starting early was to have this phase free for small corrections, and a big new treatment uses up the margin.

What is the last window for filler before a wedding?

8 to 12 weeks before · Maintenance and glow

Eight to twelve weeks out is the last window for small filler touch ups and Botox adjustments, and the reason is in the practice’s own dermal filler care guide: swelling and tenderness peak at 24 to 48 hours, slight asymmetry in the first week is normal as swelling resolves unevenly, and the product takes 2 to 3 weeks to fully settle. The guide asks every patient to mention upcoming weddings and photoshoots, and not to schedule filler within 2 to 3 weeks of one. Torey’s bridal rule is wider than that minimum on purpose, so that a touch up at week 10 has settled and been seen again before the wedding month.

The rest of this phase is surface quality. SkinVive is microdroplet hyaluronic acid for cheek smoothness and hydration rather than volume, with full effect at 2 to 4 weeks, which is why it sits here and not in the final fortnight. HydraFacial has no downtime and carries the skin through to the last week. Under eye rejuvenation, where it is part of the plan, is finished here as well.

How close to the wedding can a bride get Botox?

4 to 6 weeks before · Photo ready

Torey’s rule is that the wedding Botox is placed no closer than 4 weeks to the day. Botox begins to work around day 3 to 5 and the full result develops at about two weeks, which is when every Botox treatment at MODE includes a complimentary follow up with the same injector to confirm placement and make any small adjustment. Place it at week 5, check it at week 3, and even a touch up has settled by the wedding. The practice’s Botox care guide sets the floor at two weeks before any major event; the bridal timeline doubles it so the two week check is never the last appointment before the photographs.

The dose at that visit is not a guess, because the first round months earlier showed how you respond. Botox at MODE is $13 per unit, the units for each area are in the written plan before anything is placed, and how Torey keeps the result natural is the same restraint first approach whether or not there is a wedding at the end of it. Alongside the final Botox, this window is for a hydration drip and gentle facials only: IV therapy at MODE includes a hydration formulation of saline, electrolytes and B complex vitamins, administered in the office by a nurse practitioner or registered nurse.

What should a bride do in the last two weeks?

Nothing new. The last fortnight is maintenance: skincare, a HydraFacial 3 to 7 days before the day so the skin has fully settled, water, sleep. If the wedding is closer than the timeline above, the plan is simply entered part way through. Marisa’s free 12 week pre event guide covers the shorter runway week by week, including the 2 weeks out rules and the day before checklist, and the bridal consultation decides which of the treatments above still fit.

Who plans bridal injectables at MODE in North Scottsdale?

Injectables at our Scottsdale med spa are placed only by Marisa Dulin, MSN, FNP-C, our co-owner and lead injector, and Torey Varner, RN, our nurse injector, who also trains other licensed professionals in neurotoxin technique. The brides in this note are Torey’s patients, and the person who assessed each face at month 9 is the person who placed the last Botox at week 5. Laser and skin treatments in the same plan are performed by Heather Cyr, LME, CLT, and Sara Espinoza, LME, CLT.

Our office is at 7420 E Pinnacle Peak Rd, Suite 120, on the Pinnacle Peak corridor in North Scottsdale. We see brides from DC Ranch, Silverleaf, Whisper Rock, Grayhawk, Troon, McDowell Mountain Ranch and Desert Ridge, from Paradise Valley and Phoenix, and from across Scottsdale, and we are used to a plan whose only fixed point is a date on a save the date card.

A friend had cheek filler two weeks before her wedding at another medspa and was still bruised and swollen in the photos. Nobody told her how far out to book. How does MODE time injectables for a bride?

That is the whole reason the bridal timeline exists. Filler swelling peaks at 24 to 48 hours and takes 2 to 3 weeks to settle, so the published care guide at MODE asks you to mention any upcoming wedding and never to schedule filler within 2 to 3 weeks of it. Torey Varner, RN, puts a bride's last filler adjustments 8 to 12 weeks out and the last Botox no closer than 4 weeks, with a complimentary follow up between.

Torey’s bio is here. If you are newer to injectables than the timeline assumes, her note on a first filler appointment is the place to start.
